IRVINE, Calif. (BRAIN) – Heather Mason has been named president of the National Bike Dealers Association and will officially begin her new role with the nonprofit in February.
The NBDA board of directors announced Mason’s appointment on Wednesday. She succeeds Brandee Lepak, who announced in October that she would step down as president at the end of the year to spend more time with her family and in the five bike shops she co-owns with Alan Lepak.
“Heather brings an impressive background, but her dedication to the industry and her passion for supporting and strengthening independent bicycle retailers have made her an outstanding candidate,” said the Chairman of the Board of Directors. NBDA, Kent Cranford.
Mason has held a variety of positions in the cycling industry including store owner and manager, professional athlete, retail columnist with BRAIN, author and national level sourcing manager. She is currently the Eastern Region Sales Manager and New England Territory Manager for Bianchi Bicycles.
“Cycling is my passion and the industry is my family,” Mason said. “I am honored to serve independent bicycle retailers and fuel their growth. We face a lot of challenges as an industry as well as increased consumer interest, and that might be a cliché, but we’re in the same boat. a member of the NBDA, that’s all. “
Goals include expanding the NBDA’s training and education resources for experienced and potential retailers, as well as certification and accreditation programs that enable owners and employees to develop their stores and their careers.
