A previous LAPADA art and antiques fair in Berkeley Square. The 2021 edition has been canceled due to the coronavirus pandemic.
The association decided it was too risky to plan the organization of the event, but instead offered smaller alternatives for its members this year.
In a statement Freya Simms, CEO of LAPADA, said the board made the “difficult decision” to cancel the same because “there are just too many obstacles and unknowns for us to proceed with confidence.”
Under current government guidelines, indoor and outdoor fairs can take place this year and LAPADA will hold its LAPADA Pavilion future event Game fair in Warwickshire from July 23-25 where a number of LAPADA dealers took a stand.
Simms added, “We have been busy forging partnerships with other events, and in addition to the Game fair we run a similar LAPADA Pavilion arrangement at the Scottish Gambling Fair to be held at Scone Palace in Perthshire (September 24-26) which LAPADA members are welcome.
LAPADA is also in talks on other London-based initiatives slated for September that “may appeal to LAPADA members as an alternative to LAPADA lounge at Berkeley Square, and we will provide an update on that as soon as details are confirmed ”.
Many events had to be canceled this year including TEFAF Maastricht in the Netherlands which will now be an online event this year. However, there are many smaller art and antique fairs planning to move forward in the UK, including Petworth Park Antiques and Fine Arts Fair from June 18 to 20.
