The Board of Trustees of the National Automobile Museum recently announced that Phil MacDougall has been appointed the new executive director of the Reno-based museum.
“The board believes that as we recover from the pandemic and uncertainties of 2020, MacDougall will lead the museum to a much stronger position in the years to come with his excellent background in marketing, membership, fundraising. of funds and museum management, ”according to a February 15 press release.
MacDougall has extensive experience in all of these areas, having previously worked in similar roles for the NBA Sacramento Kings and the Arco Arena Entertainment Facility, Sacramento Metropolitan Chamber of Commerce, MacDougall Productions, California Museum of History. Asian Chamber of Commerce and Ebara Technologies.
“I am very excited to join the National Auto Museum team to help develop exciting new programs that showcase our site and all of its unique offerings,” MacDougall said in a statement. “The Museum has something for everyone. Most recently, MacDougall worked as the Executive Director of Reno-based business networking organization Western Industrial Nevada (WIN), where he was hired in September 2019. There his duties included managing day-to-day operations and working with the board of directors on event planning. , financial management, corporate sponsorships, marketing and member retention / recruitment.
MacDougall, who has lived in Sparks for the past three years, graduated from the University of Richmond in London, England, and received a BA in Political Science from Bridgewater State University in Bridgewater, Mass.
According to the press release, Buddy Frank, who has served as the museum’s interim executive director since November 2019, will join the board of directors and temporarily serve as chief operating officer.
